Meet the Doctors
Meet Dr. Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey
Dr. Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey ,DMD graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1997. She currently serves as a part time affiliate faculty at UW school of dentistry. She has been serving the Seattle area since. With close to 25 years experience, she strives on providing the highest quality of care possible to all of her patients. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and performing general dentistry from basic restorations to cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics and root canals. Dr. Harvey tries to stay in tune with the latest technique and technology available in today’s dentistry. She is committed to quality and long lasting care and values personal relationships she builds with her patients.
Here is Dr. Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey’s personal journey in life, as she tells her story:
I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. In my first 16 years of life at home, I experienced the Islamic revolution of 1978 and 9 years of Iran/Iraq war which brought along countless days and nights of bombing and horrific nightmares. In addition, being a member of the Baha’i faith took away any legal rights an individual may have. Therefore, at the age of 16 I left my home land for a better life. I escaped my country to Pakistan and got an asylum with the United Nation and came to the United States as a refugee in 1989.
I completed my under graduate studies in northern California and dental school in Portland, Oregon. After graduation, I moved to Seattle in 1997 and was fortunate to take a job at SeaMar community health centers, gaining a tremendous and priceless humbling experience where I served the undeserved and low income patients and immigrants and farm workers for the next 4 years, in addition, to meeting my husband, David Harvey MD.
Dave and I started our current practice “Fremont medical and dental” together in 2002 shortly after we had our first child. Having our own clinic , has offered us the flexibility of being able to participate in our children's activities and balancing work and home better. We have 3 wonderful children, Zachary 17(the soccer player, a high school Senior who will attend University of Santa Clara in the fall), Parisa 14(the volleyball player and artist) and Sheyda 7 years old ( the cute one and the linguist)
Besides enjoying spending time with my family, I enjoy painting, hiking, traveling, Soccer, Tennis and music.
I feel very fortunate to have a group of amazing ladies as staff and providers. Not only they are all very kind, gentle and caring people, but also they are dedicated to the level of care that super exceeds the standard. At Fremont medical and dental we are committed to “quality and personalized care, where all are welcome and respected”.
Meet Dr. Sonia Takasaki
Originally from New York state, I moved to Seattle in 2016—my first time living outside the Northeast! I am enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and am slowly overcoming my fear of bugs to get outdoors.
I completed my undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, and graduated magna cum laude from Boston University School of Dental Medicine in Massachusetts. I trained in a general practice residency at the Staten Island University Hospital in New York. Afterwards, I practiced for several years in New Jersey, focusing on general dentistry for children and adults. Since moving to Seattle, I have worked in family and cosmetic dental practices.
After meeting Dr. Khajavi-Harvey, I felt an instant connection with her and the Fremont Family Dentistry team. Not only are they genuinely friendly and caring, the office utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and strives for excellent oral care—all qualities that I am committed to. I take ongoing continuing education throughout the year to stay current on the latest technology and techniques, and enjoy building trust and rapport with my patients.
Outside the office, I can be found running around with and after my two small children, exploring the Seattle area and trying to tame my garden.
