Meet the Doctors
Dr. Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey
Dr. Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey ,DMD graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1997. She currently serves as a part time affiliate faculty at UW school of dentistry. She has been serving the Seattle area since. With close to 25 years experience, she strives on providing the highest quality of care possible to all of her patients. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and performing general dentistry from basic restorations to cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics and root canals. Dr. Harvey tries to stay in tune with the latest technique and technology available in today’s dentistry. She is committed to quality and long lasting care and values personal relationships she builds with her patients.
Here is Dr. Mahvash Khajavi-Harvey’s personal journey in life, as she tells her story:
I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. In my first 16 years of life at home, I experienced the Islamic revolution of 1978 and 9 years of Iran/Iraq war which brought along countless days and nights of bombing and horrific nightmares. In addition, being a member of the Baha’i faith took away any legal rights an individual may have. Therefore, at the age of 16 I left my home land for a better life. I escaped my country to Pakistan and got an asylum with the United Nation and came to the United States as a refugee in 1989.
I completed my under graduate studies in northern California and dental school in Portland, Oregon. After graduation, I moved to Seattle in 1997 and was fortunate to take a job at SeaMar community health centers, gaining a tremendous and priceless humbling experience where I served the undeserved and low income patients and immigrants and farm workers for the next 4 years, in addition, to meeting my husband, David Harvey MD.
Dave and I started our current practice “Fremont Medical and Dental” together in 2002 shortly after we had our first child. Having our own clinic , has offered us the flexibility of being able to participate in our children's activities and balancing work and home better. We have 3 wonderful children, Zachary 19 (the soccer player, a high school Senior who will attend University of Santa Clara in the fall), Parisa 16 (the volleyball player and artist) and Sheyda 9 years old ( the cute one and the linguist).
Besides enjoying spending time with my family, I enjoy painting, hiking, traveling, Soccer, Tennis and music.
I feel very fortunate to have a group of amazing ladies as staff and providers. Not only they are all very kind, gentle and caring people, but also they are dedicated to the level of care that super exceeds the standard. At Fremont Medical and Dental we are committed to “quality and personalized care, where all are welcome and respected”.
Dr. Emily Yepez
Born and raised in Washington, Dr. Emily Yepez is a proud graduate of the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Prior to becoming a dentist, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelors in Radiologic Science and has worked in healthcare for more than seventeen years.
Working in hospitals inspired her to explore dentistry, a career in which providers can establish long-term relationships with their patients. Her experiences working with multicultural, medically complex, pediatric, and geriatric patients demonstrated the importance of developing treatment plans that fit an individual’s unique lifestyle, beliefs, and background. She values the opportunity to help patients overcome dental anxieties by instilling confidence and trust with a gentle touch, calming humor, and empathy when making important decisions about their oral health.
In addition to practicing at Fremont Family Dentistry, Dr. Emily continues to gain advanced dental techniques by taking courses in Botox, Oral Surgery, Root Canals, Invisalign, and IV Sedation. She has completed an Implantology Maxi Course with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry through the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C. Dr. Emily has a passion for volunteering as a dentist both locally with Union Gospel Mission and Medical Teams International as well as internationally in Mexico and Guatemala. She was elected to the Executive Board of the Seattle King County Dental Society where she has served since 2019 and is the chair of the New Dentist Committee. She has a dedication to advocacy and has lobbied in Olympia and Washington D.C. for dental benefits.
When not talking about her love of teeth, Dr. Emily enjoys making encaustic paintings with wax, caring for her houseplants, hiking, camping, kayaking, and spending time with her friends and family. Dr. Emily wishes health to you and your loved ones and appreciates feedback on how we can help make your experiences exceptional!

Dr. Gary Chin D.D.S.
I have been a Dentist for over 30 years. I love what I do, improving smiles, oral health, and bonding with my patients. I graduated from the University of Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California and practiced dentistry in California, Hawaii, and now Washington for the past 14 years. I love the beautiful Pacific Northwest! The diversity of this region allows me to explore the various hiking trails, salmon fishing, growing a vegetable garden, and watching gorgeous sunsets. I have been married for over 30 years and enjoy spending time with my family and now grown children. In my extra time, I enjoy painting, sculpting, playing musical instruments, traveling, and cooking. Church is also a very important part of my life. Looking forward to meet with you and be your dentist!
